Children should use toothpaste containing fluoride. Brushing twice a day (after breakfast and before bedtime) provides greater benefits than brushing once daily. Parents should dispense toothpaste to prevent their young children from swallowing too much. Studies have shown that “Fluoride Therapy” can decrease caries of 20%-40% and can decrease accumulation of plaques on tooth surface. Gel or foam as a form of Fluoride (are applied in special trays) and varnish Fluoride use for Fluoride Therapy. Fluoride Therapy is advised 2 times per year for all children from age 3 (3-4 times for children who have more risk of caries). Fluoride Therapy is also helpful for adults; particularly in case of hypersensitivity treatments and stopping first stage of caries.
